Hi,
Sorry to bomb the list but I had been discussing replacement of sills with
Cliff and I lost his email address. I am finally ready to start this and I
have a couple of questions to ask you Cliff. Of course I would welcome
anyone's' thoughts who have been there, done that..

I have both the inner and outer sills plus the end caps for both sides. I am
planning on temporarily welding supports across the top and bottom of each
opening plus one between the two to form a "H" inside the car before I start
cutting anything loose. I am also planning on replacing both floor pans so I
am not afraid of cutting holes in the pans.

My first question is whether I should weld the inner and outer sill together
and attach the end caps or try and install the inner first, then the outer
and finally the end caps. I am leaning towards welding the sills together
into a assembly and fitting that into the car as one piece.

My next question is what is the best way of removing the old sill? Should I
attempt to drill thru the spot welds and just cut down the side of the floor
pan since I am replacing them anyway? I am especially concerned about how to
disconnect the sills at the ends where the inner fenders seem to wrap around
the sills.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I will be updating my
website with progress pictures once I start for the next guy!

Thanks,
Dave Connitt
