The GT6 Gearbox is essentially the same as the MkIV box in a s much as it uses
the same case and shifter assemblies.

The similarity ends there. The gear set is different, the GT6 having a close
ratio set. The input shaft is both larger in diameter and longer than
the Spit.

You can use the gearbox in a Spit application (I did), by having the input
shaft shortened and use the Spit bell housing. You will have to fnd a
clutch disk that has the Spit diameter, but retains the 1" 10 spline GT6 type
center mating area.

This is outlined in Kas Kastner's Competition Preparation Manual for Spitfires.

I would not try using a GT6 gearbox on a TR6 engine because IMHO it is not
strong enough to be reliable.
