Barry,
I know there are several makers of tow bars in the UK;
http://www.suppliers-directory.co.uk/Contents/towing_balls_and_brackets.htm
lists some of them.
I just checked Watling and they list one for Your Spitfire:
"Spitfire MkIV nov70-aug80 (Reference #898) Price: GBP 95.00"
http://www.watlingonline.co.uk/
http://www.brink-towbars.co.uk/
http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/
http://www.dixonbate.co.uk/
http://www.towsure.co.uk/
etc...
I went another route; I built my own...
Piece of cake - when I found out how to do it - properly. Not even
one hole had to be made in the car to secure the towbar bracket. It
ls a pinch-fit on the rear [US version = heavy gauge] bumper... ;-)
Attached You can see a picture of my Triumph TR8 with a trailer
attached, parked outside a bed and furniture company...
Regards
/Odd
