I seem to remember reading a Standard or Triumph reference somewhere that 
referred to "H" in the "HE" for high-compression engines, "L" (LE) for 
low-compression engines, and "M" (ME) for medium-compression (which, 
admittedly, I've never seen before). So it might well be correct. Or, as Joe 
suggested, it could be an "H"!
