Scott-If one cell on a battery is bad on a new battery it is most likely
a manufacturers defect. If this is an older battery, either the battery
is suffering from lead sulfation ( somtimes caused from sitting to long
) or a short between insulaters in that particular cell between the
plates. If the state of charge falls below approx 80% lead sulfation can
take place. If the car sits for long period of times put a trickle
charge on the battery.
