How about this part?
Sect. 8. The Congress shall have power
To lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and
provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States
What we were talking about was the federal government collecting taxes on
gasoline. The Constitution clearly gives Congress the right to do that. So
what part of this previous discussion leads you to the remark that it is a
common misconception that our Constitution actually means something?
