The bank said 40 degrees (F) when we went to breakfast in Leadville. Life
at 10,200 ft is a bit different than at sea level. We met the Texas group
for breakfast and afterward most of them proceeded on to Breckenridge to ge
the Fun Ralley out of the way. But Mike and Sue Gruy, Bruce Cooper, Linda
and I decided to play around Colorado for a while. That left three TR8's
driving around the mountains. Great fun. First we drive around Turquiose
Lake. We were 2/3 of the way around it before we saw another vehicle. The
sky was blue the mountains were in the background, the scenery was
spectacular.

Next we headed off to Independence pass. At 12,095 feet above sea level it
is the highest paved pass in the United States. It is above the tree line.
The views from the switchbacks were phenomenal. We pressed on ot Aspen
and then back around to I-70 and on to Breckenridge via Vail Pass (a mere
11,700 ft).

In Breckenridge it is time to renew acquaintences. See folks we haven't
seen in a year (or more) and meet some new folks as well. This is the best
part of the VTR - catching up with old friends and putting faces to names
from the internet for the first time. There's Randall Young. There's Ron
Bonelli. There's Amici Triumphi walking en mass down the street. John Lye
is here (no Val) and there's Joe Curry's Spit so Joe must be here
somewhere. And, of course there's Ted Schumacher and the Rimmer lads.
Beverly Floyd flags me down to tell me Darrel (Chief Judge) is looking for
me. Finally catch up with the ISOA group and Joe Alexander. Lot's more
people to catch up with tomorrow.

Meandering in Breckenridge.
