I put the old type rug underlay between tranny cover and tranny box (what was
I thinking!!) one night after a drive I went out to the car to find it on
fire! - one fire trcuk visit and loads of water sprayed into the interior
saved my car and taught me a good lesson.. I bought a new tranny cover and
lined it tightly with 1/8th" rubber floor matting to improve sound deadening
but made sure I didn't impair good air flow around tranny - afterall gearbox
gets hot and needs to cool! (and the exhaust pipe runs through the area too).
I have seen other folks use more expensive high tech sound deadener - also
thin dimensions of 1/8" thickness - glued securely inside underside of tranny
cover. A few shorty wood screws strategically placed insures mine stays up
for a long time - even in extreme heat.
Bubble stuff might be too thick for good air flow around tranny??

I know folks on this list have talked about using Foil Covered bubble wrap as
insulation on our cars.
My question is: Has anyone tried it on the underside of the transmission
tunnel
cover (Where it seems the reflextive properties would be maximized)
Or does everyone put it between the carpet and the tunnel /cover?
Thanks in Advance.
