Greetings,
I've been in lurk mode for many years, but now a problem with a new harness
has me asking the wisdom of the list. I recently purchased a brand new
harness for my 1967 TR4a from TRF. Since I'm an electrical engineer by
trade, and I work in harness and cable manufacturing, I figured in my
arrogance that I could install this harness in a flash, just reading the
schematic out of my Bentley's (insert hysterical laughter here).
The problem is with the horn circuits. The schematic (and my old harness)
show solid purple and purple/black wires for each horn. Meanwhile, back at
the ranch, I'm staring at my freshly installed installed harness with extra
wires. On the right side horn, there is a purple and purple/black. Okay so
far. However, there are also three more wires at the same breakout point,
12 gauge purple/yellow. Two of these wires are double-terminated, therefore
the three wires result in two extra connections. On the left side horn,
there is one purple/yellow wire and one solid black wire. They are supposed
to be purple and purple/black, just like the right side.
I am sure I can ohm the harness out with a meter and make it all work, but I
wanted to ask if anyone else had this issue. What the heck are the
purple/yellow wires for? Am I missing something obvious?
Please respond off list, since I'm still lurking.
