Admittedly, I'm not intimately familiar with such accessories for the later
Spitfire 1500s, but that particular jack does NOT look familiar to me. Most
of the various styles of Herald/Spitfire scissors jack I've seen over the
years have a "squared-off" plate on the top, with a hole in the middle. That
hole is meant to locate a convenient body mount bolt; together with the
squared-off portion, this, er, helps to keep the jack in place whilst
changing tyres.
Unless I'm missing the obvious, I don't see that piece on the jack in the
eBay auction. Unless it IS late Spitfire? Anyone else?
