Brian,
I too had squeal problems in the 70's and used some Permatex or
some-other-brand 'spray anti-squeal' product that seemed to really work well.
(need to remove shims before spraying them)

Hey Listers,
I rebuilt my front suspension and brakes this winter. On the
brakes... I used new chrome pistons and rebuild kits from TRF,
new rotors from TRF... the made in Italy brand, new TRF disc pads
(but about 2+ years old from a parts sale), new anti-squeal shims
(TR6 style with cutaway) from TRF and new pins and clips.
I have a persistent chirping that occurs when I am driving along
on local roads at about the 45 MPH range that is driving me nuts.
Any wisdom is appreciated. BTW... I do remember fighting brake
squeal all the time back on my original TR4 in the 60s.
