Greetings, All,
in doing a bit of internet research on a pressure plate to install with my
new aluminum flywheel, I came across a reference to an article written my
Hugh Barber last year that was published in the Feb. 2000 Buckeye Triumphs
Newsletter, available online at:
http://www.nextek.net/BuckeyeTriumphs/
follow the newsletter link.
In the article, they detail how a Saab 900 pressure plate and a Toyota
Landcruiser Throwout bearing can be used on a TR6.
The remarkable part is this setup is supposed to be a vast improvement
over the stock borg & beck units, yet the Sachs pressure plate from the
Saab cost as little as 1/3 of what is usually charged for the Borg & Beck
unit.
I did a quick cross-reference and the pressure plate listed in a catalog I
had was the same part number for 4a, 250 and 6.
So my question for this list is:
Has anyone used one of these Saab 900 pressure plates, made by Sachs, with
the Toyota TO bearing on their TR4a?
I'm looking for a new pressure plate to use with my newly aquired aluminum
flywheel, which is drilled for a 4a diaphram-type pressue plate, and
someone told me they had great success with the Sachs unit.
