I had the same problem in my '73 TR6. Start, drive
short distance, die. Repeat (ad infinitum <g>)
What I found was that the fuel tank was rusted and
starting to pass the sediment into the fuel filter.
The filter would clog under pressure. When the engine
shut off, the sediment would settle allowing me to
start the car and drive a short distance until it
clogged again. A new filter helped for a day or so,
but it clogged again and finally no starting at all.
Took the tank out and had it cleaned and patched and
coated. No more trouble.
