TR4A Differential Cover & Gasket Question

Mates,

    The Moss gasket I rec'd is alarmingly thin & I don't recall the
thickness of the old gasket. Need I be concerned? Should I butter up the
mating faces first or does the viscosity of the gear oil make it less
susceptible for leaks?
