Lee, I really love your idea!  Fine tune the PI system...... but......
It seems that you are trying to keep the old original system and "upgrade" so 
it will
adjust based on O2 rather than on vacuum.

Why not REPLACE the entire thing with an electromotive system?  I believe the 
electromotive 
is more reliable, easier to get replacements, etc.  Yes, you have to program 
the system to
get the proper mixture, but you certainly will be able to easily match the 
limited variables of the
old PI system, and do better from there!
