John : Even the factory manual says to use sealant on the fig-8 gaskets. I don't see any way it could possibly hurt, and I'd sure hate to have to tear down an engine because they leak (although some stop leak would most likely work). So, I always use sealant on them (Aviation form-a-gasket last time).
