All righty then....
Has anyone ever had an issue with an OD hanging in OD? My 1977 Spit has a
79 OD/tranny in it, and lately I think it has been hanging in OD. After a
fairly long run in OD (say more than 4 miles after reaching full temp) I
will switch the OD out, but the revs do not go up. Then I down shift as
normal for coming to a stop or slowing. No big deal, but if I go all the
way down to first the revs go way up. As in there is a very large
difference between 1st and 2nd gear ratios. Decidedly not normal. If, on
the other hand, I just stay in 2nd and accelerate hard, I can feel the
tranny slip (BAD feeling, believe me). But if I am in and out of OD in
short runs the OD does not seem to hang.
Is the above as confusing as I think it sounds?
Anyway, has anyone seen this or got an idea were to start looking? The
selenoid sounds like it is throwing properly at all times.
