My 1970 TR-6's clutch went down hill pretty quickly over the last 24 hours.

After flatly refusing to go in gear at a stoplight, I shut her off, put it in
gear,
and then started her back up and made my way home without ever coming to a
complete
stop.

I've had the replacement parts in the trunk for weeks. (new .75" Master
Cylinder, New
Slave Cylinder, and new stainless reinforced flex hose)

So today became the day to fix it.

I'm out of town, away from my tools. . . and manuals, but that didn't deter me.

When I went to put the new slave cylinder in the bracket, it wouldn't go though
the
hole. It is close, but it won't quite go.

The new slave cyliner has a sort of Boss at the end where the hose and bleed
nipple
attach, and this boss sticks out a little more than the rest of the cylinder
body.

I called the vendor: he looked at one from his stock and said it was the same.
He also said he sells them all the time and hasn't heard a complaint.

Two possiblities. .. or three.
I've got a weird bracket.
I've got a weird slave cylinder.
I'm putting it together wrong.

As I said, I don't have the manuals.
Help me out:
With the bracket fitted to the car, does the long part of the cylinder body pass
through the bracket (fittings end first) or does the piston end pass through
the hole?

That was the best way I could figure to ask the question.
Hope it makes sense.
