Minilite brought out a modification to correct this problem many years ago
and called it the Quickfit Minilite.

It was basically that the original wheel nut holes were machined out to take
a steel sleeve in the shape of an inverted top hat. The sleeve was pressed
in with an interferance fit and loctite.
The sleeve was premachined with an internal taper seat so that conventional
wheel nuts could be used thereby self centering.

All the works rally teams using Minilites had them modified in this way. It
facilitated quicker wheel changes and a more positive wheel location.

Any good machine shop could make up the sixteen sleeves and fit them. They
may even be still available from Techdel (Minilite wheel manufactureres) in
UK. It is also a good way of rejuvenating an old set of mag wheels that have
corroded around the wheel stud holes. This being a common problem where
dissimilar metals contact and corrode.
