I went and looked at the car during my lunch break. It definitely has
potential. But more work than I want right now. The body is Excellent. The
floor pans, sills, etc, show no rust. The car is stripped down, including
the dash and wiring harness. He has these parts, but they are removed from
the car and not labeled at all. All dash gauges have been removed, and the
wood needs replaced. The dash top is cracked in several places. The hard
top is missing the rear glass, but otherwise appears in good condition. I
didn't bother to look at the convertible top, engine or tranny because I
knew it was more than I wanted right now. If I didn't already have 2 cars
to work on I'd jump on it.

Anyone interested and having specific questions or wanting me to have a
closer look just let me know and I'll be glad to go look. I'm going to be
out of the office for the next couple days, going to Norfolk, VA tomorrow
and back on Wed., but I'll be in touch as soon as I get back. The guy that
owns the car seems very nice and very receptive to someone taking it off his
hands. He is very big into stock car racing and he doesn't need this car
right now. He acquired it by helping out a friend.

There is an 80 Spitfire for sale locally. I haven't seen the car yet, but I
may in the next hour or so. I talked with the current owner, he is a tire
dealership owner. He recently had the car painted, and he says the body is
in very good condition, no rust. The interior is shot, he says it will need
all new panels, carpets and the seats recovered. The engine and
transmission are out of the car and the engine has been disassembled for
rebuilding. One cylinder in the engine had water in it and the cylinder
walls are pitted, so it will require boring out. It comes with a hard top
and the convertible top. He says he has $800 in the car and would like to
get that out, but he's open to offers. That's all I know at the minute.

What areas should I look at? I'm not sure I want another project right now
as I've got 2 MGs I'm working on, but it would give me a spare Triumph. I
hate the body work, but enjoy mechanical work. This one has all the body
work done, only needs mechanical and interior.

I'm located in Panama City, FL. If anyone is interested in this car let me
know off line. If no interest I may consider it. I'm going to look at it
in a few minutes.
