OK I'll chime in on this again.

A few months back I reported solving my oil filter spin on adapter
'leak/weep' as follows: I removed the new filter, I removed the adaptor
plate, I 'picked out' the
recessed seal. (The new seal was too broad to fit the recess). I cleaned
everything up completely with carb cleaner and then a final wipe with
isopropal alcohol, INCLUDING THE SEAL. I used 3M weatherstrip adhesive
thinly in the recess. Then on the 'face' of the seal. Then installed the
adapter and tightened it with the spin on nut. I gave a thin
'circumference application of 3M weatherstrip adhesive. I let it sit
several days. When I returned to the Hnager the next weekend, I
installed the spin on filter.

I have driven >1,000 miles this year-no weeps or leaks from the spin-on.
New 'last season' Leaks from dipstick hole (fixed now with 'home
engineering to dipstick eal) and since fall-oil pan gasket leaks (got
new gasket- my next 'heat wave winter project'.
