'88 Jaguar Sedan Info

I know some listers have Jag experience.

I am looking at a possible buy of an '88 Jaguar Van Den Plas sedan for the 
"better half."  This will be used as a "regular" car (her quote).  Anyone on 
the list familiar with that model or know of a place where I can get some 
good advice about quality etc?  Thanks in advance.
