Thanks to Bob and Randall. You are right, there are captive nuts on the
radiator side of the frame brackets. the top one is 5/16 and the bottom is
3/8. both are fine thread. The holes through the trunion bracket are 5/16
on top and over 1/2 inch on the bottom. As Randall pointed out the larger
hole allows movement up and down at the steering column to allow some
freedom of movement in atttaching the steering column to the dash. I should
have looked more carefully before asking for help. Thanks to you both.
