Paul,
This is a great time to take a good look at the rocker shaft and rocker arms.
They are famous for wearing out. Take the thing completely apart, removing
the rocker arms and springs in such a way that you will be able to reassemble
them without saying "gee which part goes on next?".
Look at the shaft and the arms for signs of wear. If you are lucky,
everything will be okay. If so, give it a good cleaning, especially the oil
passages, and put it back together.
