Vic Brit OD Transmission

My TR6 is currently on my mechanics rac, clutch repairs, the tranny is
pulled. We're talking OD tranny, since everything is already pulled. It
seems that Victoria  British offers a A-Type OD tranny , I think $1,000 US,
no core charge. My mechanic says it is rebuilt by a dude from New York ,who
rebuilds the same trannies for the 3 big Parts houses. Mechanic says he
wouldn't have a problem putting one in his own car? Any thoughts?
