I seem to remember reading that the original PI engine was 134 bhp
DIN, so the drop was about 9 bhp. The later engines had the same cam
for both PI and carb, so the difference in power output must have
been due to compression ratio and PI. But how much is attributable
to each?
Has anyone checked the power output from a high compression (9 or 10
to 1) carb engine with the later cam? I have been told that PI
mostly improved the low speed torque.
