There has been quite a bit of discussion concerning replacing the Lucas
alternator with the '80 Ford Fiesta Bosch alt. for the TR-6. Will this alt
interchance with a GT-6? Anyone done this swap?
THe reason that I even ask this question is that my '73 TVR (TR-6) engine (now
in my '71 GT-6) had a Lucas alt on it that had a different electical plug
configuration than my GT-6. The alt in my GT-6 is unmarked with respect to xx
ACR. THis alt has two plugs: a larger rectangular plug (2 large spade
termials) that overlaps a smaller "L"-shaped plug (3 smaller spade terminals).
THe alt from the TVR is marked 1x ACR. Where the "x" represents a space where a
number was not inserted in the mold for the plastic cover. The TVR alt has
three terminals (2 large and 1 small spade) in parallel in what would appear to
be a common connector.
