The vertical link on the 73 is a great deal different from the 72 and I 
suspect that the backing plate can not be swapped.  Unfortunately, I sold 
my 72 a couple of weeks ago and I don't have anything to compare.  I do 
have the 72 parts manual and I may be able to tell from that.  I think I 
have a couple of vertical links around here somewhere.  If I come across a 
rotoflex rear end I will just swap it... better anyway.
