Hey,

What's up with you folks lately???

A Torch??? To remove a crank pully?? Actually, I don't know squat about
Spitfires - but some of the big TR's use a rubber insert in the crank
pully, ostensibly for harmonic dampening... don't wreck the rubber - if
you can help it.

Sheesh.

The correct tool is an impact wrench... that'll get that baby loose!

Seriously, you need to be careful on how you remove the bolt, because it
is quite possible to damage the crank etc. when you put lots-o-torque on
the bolt to remove it. This was illustrated in the one example where
another drive-train component failed when attempting this operation.

A 1/2" or 3/4" impact wrench with the appropriate sized impact socket
will remove the bolt "forthwith".

Later,
rml

p.s. try not to wreck the crank pully, as they are becoming hard to come
by. Especially "serviceable" ones.
