This was on the news today.
Some celebs build their dream home. Avid car collector Jerry Seinfeld is
building his dream garage. The newlywed, who reportedly paid $32 million for
Billy Joel's former house in East Hampton, has been building a lavish home
for his beloved cars.
The unemployed funnyman recently paid $880,000 for a garage on West 83rd
Street that he's revamping to house part of his fleet of pricey cars.
Seinfeld owns 25 vintage Porches and 35 other classic cars of various makes.
According to documents obtained by The Smoking Gun
<http://www.thesmokinggun.com>, Seinfeld is spending some $500,000 to
renovate the space as a state-of-the-art garage.
The plan calls for a heavy-duty elevator to shuttle the cars up and down,
wood paneling, floors made of pricey terrazzo (small chips of cement set in
cement and polished), stainless-steel shelving, a skylight and a state of
the art 844-square-foot office, bathroom, kitchen and an outdoor deck.
Chortles one New Yorker: "Jerry Seinfeld's cars are going to live better
than 99.9 percent of the people living in Manhattan."
Unfortunately, although Jerry and I share a hobby and initials, his pockets
are a bit deeper than mine!
