underside and is supposed to hold the dzus fastener in place. The directions
the guy at TRF gave me was to "flatten out the washer" which will make it
tighten up and hold the dzus. They suggest putting a socket over it and
"tapping". I am finding this difficult to do on the underside of an open
bonnet --- any tips on how to be able to hit with enough force to flatten
out the washer???

I've had pretty good luck using a socket on the washer side and one of those
wide clamp vise-grip things used in welding. You just crank it down until the
washer flattens out. One jaw on the socket and the other on the head of the
dzus. I think I stuck a rag on top of the dzus head to protect the paint, and
of course this is an operation performed with great care. Works well, I have
done this a number of times.
