As I see great convertible weather approach yet again, and still no 3a on
the road, I am getting much more tempted to just shell the big bucks and
get someone to do the body work for me.
Now I am of a heritage famous for knowing how best to pinch a penny, so
it's a tough thing to bring myself to do, but I do want to drive the car
sometime this century, and I can't get any more wrecks around the place
until some projects get done, so here's the question:
What bodywork can be done with the body at the shop, off the car, without
the risk of the doors not fitting once it's bolted back on the frame? I
have replaced the floors, repaired both inner sills, replaced one outer
sill so far, and rebuilt one B post at the bottom (and the other one could
use it). I have all fenders off, as well as the trunk and hood i.e. all
wings have been removed and the boot and bonnet are in the basement. Doors
are off too.
Is there anything that should absolutely be done only before the body is
removed or only after it's back on?
I would most appreciate hearing from folks who have experience in this area.
Thanks,
Jim Wallace

(Also note I am trying to beat my brother, who's now ahead of me with
getting his 48 Pontiac Torpedo Fleetliner on the road - but the TR3a is a
nicer car.....anyway there's a certain amount of pride involved - on his
part...)
