Subject: 1965 TR 4 A IRS
Importance: High
List
Last night I accidentally stumbled upon an elderly gentleman that wants to
sell his rhd 1965 TR 4 A IRS that he has owned for the past 18 years .
Commission number CTC 57992 O . Engine number CT 58117 E . Paint code 32 .
Trim code 11 .
It was real late and dark so a thorough inspection of the vehicle was not
possible , but it drives pretty well , though it must be repainted and the
wooden dash needs urgent attention . Upholstery seems to be fair but should
be redone later . Body is fair / no visible dents , but right front footwell
/ floorpan severely rusted . Chassis seems fair with a few small rust holes
at the back . Wiper motor and heater does not function properly .
It's painted Pimento red with black vinyl upholstery ( is this correct for
the paint and trim codes ?) , and fitted with overdrive , Surrey top , ZS
carbs and disc wheels . No wire wheels or full soft top and frame .
The owner has various new and used spare parts ( really a lot ) including a
complete engine ( CT 56512 E ) . Unfortunately he knows that TR's are pretty
rare in South Africa so the asking price is a hefty R 50 000,00 ( approx. $
7200,00 or 5000,00 UK Pounds ) for everything . :-(
I really want this car .
Maybe he will accept two Heralds and three Spitfires in exchange , or maybe
he will be offended by such a suggestion . Who knows ?
Any comments , suggestions or advice would be appreciated .
TIA
