Just looked in my Haynes manual again and it looks like this stop (pls see
previous post) is in fact supposed to be some sort of rubber plug, not a set
screw. So the rubber residue I found is the result of a worn out plug, not
some bodged repair by the PO.
However, I can't find the part in any of my catalogs. Have any of you been
successful with an alternative, homemade part? Or is there a standard
hardware store item that will work?...I'm my own DPO :^) If not, anyone know
where I can find the real thing?
Thanks again, folks..I WILL get this thing on the road before the summer's
over!
