Stiff Clutch

My clutch seems to be very stiff at the bottom end.  In other words, when the 
clutch is depressed, it does not smoothly come back to the resting position.  
The result is normally less than a smooth takeoff, jerky is the norm.  Master 
cylinder is topped off.

Any suggestions what might cause this problem.  Could I possibly need to 
bleed my slave cylinder?  Thank you in advance.   Virg 75 TR6
