Zenith Carbs question

In the process of changing the airfilters on the dual Zenith Strombergs in
the spitsix I noticed a little liquid it had the trace smell of gas but not
completely.  It sort of looked and had the consistancy of the dashpot oil.
Do I have a leak?  or this somewhat normal?  The amount present was about a
teaspoon on the bottom of the inlet hole.
