I have a pair of extra axles from a parts car, and I am wanting to
rebuild them to put on my '77 Spit. The axles on the car have been
sitting for quite some time, and one of the bearings was a little
stiff last time I checked it (some three years ago), so I am
definitely in a rebuilding mood. I've replaced Spit axle u-joints
before, so that's not a problem -- what I need more information on is
replacing the rear wheel bearings.
I have the names of a couple of places here in Des Moines which might
be able to undertake this task, but I have been told that one should
not undertake the task without a special tool. What do I need to
look for, what questions do I need to ask, and what's a ballpark
price for this service?
Thanks in advance.
Dan
