I'd consider relinquishing my spitfire project - much as it pains me, I just
don't seem to have the time required.

1964 MK1 Spitfire chassis, blasted to bare metal and POR15'd outside, corroless
pumped down the rails.
The 64 tub is pretty much toast after a firm hit in the front but has everything
on it.
Spare 1967 tub, blasted and primed and had Corroless pumped down the rocker
panels, needs bodywork and prep for final painting. Doors to match (blasted and
primed) plus some spares.
Spare 67 chassis, suface rust, seems solid.
1969 engine running well when removed from car.
- has downdraft weber conversion and crane electronic ignition.
Several spare heads, rocker assemblies, various gearbox bits, generators,
waterpumps etc inherited or accumulated over the past six years.
3 rail tranny, needs rebuild (I had planned on going with the Toyota 5-speed).
used low mileage diff from 71, likewise rear axle and hub assemblies (new uj's),
and new swing spring
Koni front shocks and competition springs
1 inch front bar - this car handled like it was on rails - except for the back
end - to be solved with the swing spring upgrade.
front end rebushed a couple of years ago
all the chrome is in pretty good shape, have spare rear bumpers
spare hood, no rust but dent in side, spare GT6 fibreglass hood (doesn't fit
that well but worked OK - pretty light)
seats are from a 71 I think - tightish fit in the tub but much more comfortable
that the earlier ones
steel wire wheels (although at least a couple should be replaced)

many new parts for installation - including new convertible top, bosch 50+ amp
alternator conversion, bushings, gaskets, etc. etc

papers are clean, have title for both tubs, you can probably choose to have the
early black plates (NIX 365 - pretty darn cool) or the blue ones.

Main jobs to complete
- crack in frame showed up after sandblasting - needs to be welded (I had the
frame measured and it is straight.)
- remove console? panel from 64 tub and spot weld into 67 tub (wood dash and all
gauges in nice shape)
- bodywork, bodywork, bodywork, prep, prep, prep - mostly in the rear plus usual
nose damage, turned out there was a lot of bondo back there but I have ground it
all out.
- move everything from the 64 tub to the 67 tub and you're done (simple right!)

The whole shebang is located in San Francisco (costing me a fortune in garage
rental).
You'd need a couple of loads in a uhaul to take it all away. Nothing is rolling.

I'm not interested in selling anything piecemeal - and since I probably have
around $4k in it so far I'm not about to unload it for peanuts. Would also
consider a trade of sorts for something driveable.

Email if interested.

I need some advice on looking for a Spitfire as a project for my wife.
I haven't done any research, but am looking for a late 1500 or mark IV shape
, (the back end somewhat looks like a Stags) but with chrome bumpers.
I need to look for a car that doesn't require a smog so that means pre 73
 -74
If anyone knows of a complete car lying around, in the San Jose, bay area,
that needs a good home. I'm interested.

What should I look out for.
What web sites are a good place to start me off?

Sujit
