HELP!
On my '74 tr6 the distributor rotor electrode is rubbing against the contact
points of the distributor cap and grinding them away leaving brass shavings
inside the distributor and seemingly causing the engine to stall. It is only
rubbing against the four contacts closest to the firewall, worst of all on
the rearmost two. There seems to be some play in the distributor shaft,
about 1mm no more. Is this familiar sounding to anyone? Is it normal for
there to be some minor play in the shaft? Is there a repair without
replacing the entire distributor assembly? Moss does not offer a replacement
assembly, does mallory or crane or any other offer a replacement
distributor? Perhaps one can simply replace whatever bearings are involved
and have a good fix? HELP!
