I just completed the overhaul of my 1971 TR6. Prior to the overhaul, it
would diesel after being shut off. I'm 95% sure that I fixed that
problem, and want to share what I did.
When the head was off, I inspected the combustion chambers and found
that they had a very sharp edge at the junction of the chamber and the
face of the head. I ground these edges to a slight radius to eliminate
the potential hot spot.
I've driven the car a number of times since and have experienced no
dieseling.
