Folks,
I have recently acquired the left and right seals (thanks Dave!) that fit
to the sides of the windscreen pillars (and then disappear, mysteriously,
into the inner fender area). Just to be clear, these are not the fuzzy
ones that surround the door, but the rubber ones that provide a seal
between the window and the screen pillar.
The original items were missing when I got the car, so retro fit won't do
it. So I have checked in every book I have and I cannot see how they are
fitted - even looking at Piggott's Original 4A/5/6 book with a magnifying
glass doesn't really give any clues! I am guessing that S-T used that
super Evostick blend (contact cement for non-UK listers) that was available
for automotive suppliers (thou' when I liven in Stafford, you could get
some from folks who worked at Evode, but it's a bit too far to go for
authenticity!).
So I need to know which way round do they go - round part towards the
screen frame or away. Also how they are attached (screws, clips or
adhesive). And the much more difficult one, where the hell do they go when
they disappear into the space between the door and the body work - if
anyone is able to send an image of this bit of the body (jpeg, bmp or any
other format will work), I would be truly grateful since I fear it will
defy textual description!
Thanks in advance,
Tony Gordon
