I again need the wisdom of the list.
After recently purchasing one of Brad's 3's, I am in the middle of
disassembly and have a question. I managed to separate the split steering
column, and need to know if there is supposed to be a "tube" inside of the
hollow shaft? The control head was already out of the car and has a short
tube attached, but when I was at Paul O's place this past week, he wanted
to
know if I need this tube.
Just thought I would ask the list.
Thanks in advance.

Rick,
1) Don't use a .22. Don't use anything smaller than a .38. And put it in
your mouth don't hold it up to the side of your head and... Oh buying one
of Brads projets isn't that bad! ;-)
2) Yes, there is a tube that runs down the center of the steering shaft all
the way out the bottom of the steering box. This tube carries the wires
for the horn switch and the turn signal switch. This tube often breaks,
too. If there is a short piece of tube on the control head it is useless
and the rest of the tube is also useless unless you can get them welded
back together. If not Fred Thomas knows a company that sells repalcement
tubes; Realey Healey or something like that. Yes this is the same tube
used in the Austin Healey.
Good luck
Dave
