Scott,
First, It isn't my site that says not to worry about bracing the door
openings.  Personally, I think it is a good idea to brace the openings
anyway.  It's good insurance for proper fit when putting it back
together.

The bodies are pretty rigid when the rocker panels are in place and
solid, but you really never know if it will flex until it is too late.

On the Conifer (TRG) Spitfires, I thing (Somebody will correct me if I
am wrong) that the Works Le Mans Spitfires were painted that color.
