While doing some more research on the battery question, I came across a
tech article on a new battery. It uses some type of acid 'gel' coating on
metallic sheets which then get rolled up like a jelly roll. Six of them get
put together in a 'six-pack' configuration and enclosed in in a plastic
casing.
With no water/acid mixture the thing can be mounted in any position, even
upside down if you want. Highly resistant to vibration, extremely long
life, lots of other benefits. Down side is the price of about $130 and up.
