On major problem when people have pistons re-ringed is that the rings aren't
necesarilly what's bad. The piston grooves generally wear at the same rate
or faster than the rings. If you look at the blow-by on pistons with "bad
rings" is is through the piston side of the ring, not between the ring and
the bore. This could be the case...When you did have new rings put into the
motor did it run at all, or did it just sit for a few years with never being
run. Another test to see if the rings aren't seated is to put a little bit
of oil in each cylinder and do a wet compression test. you also might want
to try a leak down tester which is a much better way to diagnose a problem
than a compression check.
