Hey Larry....Loose the CAPS.

IMHO, it sounds like a parts car to me. In fact, it sounds just like the
$500 parts car I bought for both my 250 projects. And I probably paid too
much. The frame is a critical part of any of these cars and if it is not in
good condition, restoring it is going to cost you more money, time, heart
ache and patience than you can afford. Even a good frame on these cars is
going to need some attention. Reinforcing lower wishbone brackets,
repairing/reinforcing differential mounts. It sounds like your description
of the drivers side "rear wishbone" is actually a trailing arm for the IRS.
If it is pulled from the frame mounts you are going to have lots of
problems. That sounds like the frame has lost enough integrity due to rust
that critical strength members are questionable at best. Repairs and/or
replacement of these is not as easy as it may seem because you have to
duplicate the originaly dimensions and geometry. Not for the faint of heart.

Don't get me wrong though. I would love to see more TR250s restored. Just
don't take something on that will surely cause you to walk away from it in
frustration after a couple of months. Spend your money on one that is in
better shape. Keep looking, there's some great cars out there.

And good luck.

HAY 250 LOVERS
FOUND A 68 TR250 WHEN LOOKING FOR A 6. NOT IN GREAT SHAPE. MY BIGGEST
CONCERN IS THE FRAME. THE "WISH BONE?" ON THE DRIVER SIDE IRS IS
COMPLETELY PULLED OUT OF THE FRAME. THE ENTIRE FRAME IS COVERED WITH
HEAVY RUST.
THE FLOOR BOARDS, INNER AND OUTER ROCKERS NEED REPLACED. EVERY FENDER
AND DOOR HAVE BUBBLING IN THEM.
THE TOP IS FAIR. THE SEATS NEED RECOVERED AND ALSO NEW CARPET. DASH IS
OK AND INTERIOR PANELS ARE GOOD.
MOST EVERYTHING WORKS. ENGINE RUNS GREAT AND I CAN GO THROUGH THE SHIFT
PATTERN FINE.
I KNOW IT'S HARD WITHOUT SEEING THE CAR. BUT MY INFORMATION IS OLD. MY
BOOK FROM LATE 80'S SAID RESTORABLE CONDITION $750 TO $1200. WITH A 5
YEAR PROJECTION OF +5%.
THE OWNERS PURCHASED IT 5 YEARS AGO FOR $3500 WITH A POOR COVER-UP
RESTORATION. IT'S BEEN PARKED FOR THIS TIME IN A CEMENT FLOOR GARAGE.
THIS IS WERE THE DAMAGE HAS HAPPENED.
I'LL DO 95% OF THE WORK. IT WILL BE A FRAME UP RESTORATION.

THANKS
LARRY HALLER
