I heartily recommend the magic tool. Less than $20 at Harbor Freight.
In addition to the "twirler" knob, it has rounded jaws so they don't
nick the wire (leaving a weak spot to break), and 'springy' handles, so
you don't crush the wire when you lock the handles.
