Are TR gas caps really unvented ?

Hi all :

After all the disussion lately, I got to looking closely at my gas caps,
only to find that they are vented !  Both the one on my current 59 TR3A
(TS390xxLO) which I believe is original (was on the car when I bought
it, around 1980), and two in my 'spares' pile (which AFAIK came from one
pre-TS60000 and one post-TS60000 TR3A) have a small vent hole through
the inner cap.

Anyone else check theirs ?
