I was not intending on doing anything out of the ordinary for british car
week but as it turned out the timetable I had planned on was coincidentally
quite favorable. I just returned from the all british field meet in
vancouver bc this past saturday (may 22). I drove my TR6 about 1200km to get
there. Once there, I saw about 475 cars in attendance, all british. Among
the numerous jags, healeys, astons, triumphs, mgs, morgans, minis, rollers,
bentleys, sunbeams, land rovers, daimlers, etc, one car stood above the rest
for me. It was a 1960 AC Ace. I have always liked the AC cobras but often
thought they were somewhat overdone (ie like comparing a lamborghini with a
ferrari -- the lambo is just too...aggressive or something, while the
ferrari is...just right -- usually). Anyway, the Ace is about the cleanest
car I have seen in a long time. I have seen pictures of them a few times and
noticed I liked them but seeing one in person makes me pretty determined to
have one. They're sweet.
And to conclude my bcw motoring I drove the 1200km back yesterday.
