re my differential mount stud with the sleeve rusted solidly to it:
After soaking the sleeve & stud overnight in liquid wrench (by taping a
bottle full to the underside of the car) I hit it a few times with a
hammer (backed by a metal block to keep from bending the stud) and it
surrendered easily to the vice grips. I'm glad. I really didn't want to
remove the gas tank again so I could torch it.
The new mounts make a surprising difference, but I say that about every
little improvement I make to this little car. With a totally new,
upgraded suspension, wider tires, brakes yadda, yadda, it is getting to
be a pure joy to drive.
Thanks for the suggestions.
